HISTORY OF THE NAM KNIGHTS OF AMERICA

In the summer of 1989 a small group of Harley-riding combat vets of the Viet Nam War, who were also police officers, banded together to form the Nam Knights.

The Club was founded in New Jersey by Jack Quigley, now retired Undersheriff of The Bergen County Sheriff’s Department. Jack served as a platoon sergeant with the 11th Motor Transport Battalion, First Marine Division.

Today, the Nam Knights of America Motorcycle Club has grown to 78 chapters in 17 states, Washington D.C. and two Canadian provinces, with hundreds of members made up of veterans of all eras as well as law enforcement personnel plus a few special and dedicated “patriots.”

The club was formed to recapture the brotherhood its founding members shared while serving in Southeast Asia, and to help other veterans of all wars who are unable to physically or financially help themselves.

The mission of the Nam Knights is to honor the memory of American Veterans and Police Officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, to assist Veterans and Police Officers in their time of need, and to promote community awareness through sponsorship and participation in various community and fund-raising events

HISTORY OF THE FIRST STATE NAM KNIGHTS

In October of 2020 six Nam Knights that had retired and moved to the Delmarva area saw a need to establish a Chapter of the Nam Knights in Delaware. There was no chapter in Delaware and many military veterans and law enforcement, active and retired, live and work in our small state. Many of which could use a helping hand from time to time.

They missed the brotherhood that the Nam Knights enjoyed and the interaction with our military and law enforcement brothers. Consequently we put together a Nam Knight Chapter consisting of folks from, Hudson Valley, New York; Baltimore, Maryland; Rockville, Maryland and Washington, D.C.

We are all avid motorcycle riders. The Nam Knights require that you own and ride either a Harley Davidson or Indian motorcycle. The feeling of patriotism and country first extends through everything we do and represent. Other than riding motorcycles, we bear no resemblance to “Outlaw Bikers.” The Nam Knights claim no territory and abide strictly to state and federal laws.

The First State Chapter, like all Nam Knight Chapters, is a non-profit organization and is actively pursuing an IRS 501(C)(3) Charitable Organization status, which would enable donors to claim a tax deduction.

If you live in lower Delaware, you will soon see us proudly wearing our vests working at charity events earning funds to help our vets, police officers, and communities!!
