Sgt David Salinas was killed when the helicopter he was in crashed. The crash occurred in Trigg County, Kentrucky, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) northwest of the Army post that is home to the 101st Airborne Division. The two Blackhawk Helicopters involved in the incident collided in the air during a night time training exercise on March 31st, 2023, killing 9 soldiers.

The First State Chapter was joined by The Old Line Chapter of the Nam Knights of America in escorting the Funeral Procession carrying the casket of Sgt. Salinas from Dover AFB to the Delaware Memorial Bridge where the Parent Chapter of the Nam Knights continued the escort to Sgt. Salinas’ hometown in New Jersey.
